Zamboni Driver’s Lament
¶ I just finished printing a poetry broadside for Halifax poet and friend Matt Robinson—the first letterpress commission I’ve done in the new shop. Matt and I have collaborated on projects like this almost annually for about two decades. Matt always gets favourable pricing (and sometimes more colours than he actually gets billed for) because he sends me a couple of poems to choose from and tells me ‘do what you want’. Sometimes we hire an illustrator, but more often we keep them typographic. Usually we make an edition of about fifty copies.
If you are a poet and are interested in hiring me to design and print a broadside or a chapbook for you, please get in touch. The cost varies depending on the materials, complexity and the length of the print run, but in most instances I would expect that when all is said and done a poet could turn a little profit by selling these kinds items at readings and events.
