Resistance

Through September and October 2026 I have been typesetting and printing Resistance in the Manner of Thoreau, a limited edition letterpress book that will be published by Press of the Varying Hare in 2027. The essay portion is being typeset by hand in 12 point Monotype Baskerville and printed on dampened Hahnemuhle Bugra paper. Basically, every week for six weeks I have set the type for four book pages, proofed the type and then printed a sheet. Typically the sheets are printed in two colours, front and back. This is a pace I can maintain while also keeping on top of other projects and client work. The essay was written by Thoreau scholar Jeffery Cramer. It will be accompanied by a series of typographic prints by Amos Kennedy of Kennedy Prints in Detroit.
